In the early hours of Aug. 21, an officer was sent to the Racino for a report of an intoxicated man trying to leave in his vehicle. Officers responded to Cranbrook Drive on Aug. 17 for a theft from a vehicle. While on scene, a nearby Coventry area resident reported a separate vehicle theft as well. That same morning, officers also investigated two vehicles on Rosewood Avenue that had been rummaged through overnight. Owners later confirmed nothing had been taken from either vehicle.
A suspicious vehicle occupied by juveniles brought officers to the Sunset Motel on Aug. 20. One juvenile was arrested for possessing a stolen firearm and taken to the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center.
A woman told police on Aug. 21 that her Ray Ban sunglasses had been stolen from the Racino nearly two weeks earlier. Racino staff said they were unable to look into the report, and the case was closed.
Police were dispatched to the Racino again on Aug. 23 for a reported voucher theft. A suspect was identified, and restitution was made to the victim. No charges will be filed.
Medical Assists
Rescue squad calls made up a large share of the log during this stretch. A woman fell in a bathroom at the Racino on Aug. 11, and a man experienced a medical fall on Northfield Road on Aug. 13. Both were taken to a hospital for treatment.

Two days later, an elderly woman was located on the ground at North Plaza Drive, where she had apparently been since Sunday, and was taken to Southpoint Hospital for evaluation.
A woman was found unconscious after a fall at the Racino on Aug. 19 and was cared for by fire department medics on scene. On Aug. 23, an elderly man fell while trying to get into his vehicle at the Racino. He was medically cleared, found to be intoxicated and released to a sober party. On Aug. 24, a woman tripped and fell outside the Racino, suffering a laceration to her nose and hands. She refused treatment and left without incident.
Ongoing Investigations
Police opened an investigation on Aug. 18 into a report of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor in Northfield Village. Officers gathered information after receiving the initial report, and the investigation continues.
Also on Aug. 21, officers met with security at the Racino regarding a bomb threat made against an employee. That investigation is also ongoing.
Other Incidents
A vehicle struck an electrical component on Steeple Chase Run on Aug. 16 and left the scene. The driver later came forward to the police department and admitted to the crash. No charges were filed.
On Aug. 24, someone reported a custody dispute at the police station. Officers determined it was a civil matter and referred the complainant to civil court for further help.
