The Summit County OVI Task Force will run sobriety checkpoints at locations throughout Summit County starting Friday, Sept. 18, according to a media release from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.
The checkpoints will continue through Saturday, Sept. 19, and into the early morning hours of Sunday, Sept. 20. Specific checkpoint locations were not disclosed in the release.
What the Task Force Is Asking Drivers to Do
Sheriff’s officials framed the effort around a simple message: “Drive Safe, Drive Smart, Drive Sober.” The campaign is part of an ongoing statewide push against impaired driving, and officers will be looking for signs of alcohol or drug impairment during stops.
Drivers who plan to be out over the weekend should arrange a sober ride home in advance. Rideshare apps, designated drivers, and staying overnight are all options that can help avoid a stop at a checkpoint altogether.
