Knights Go for Fifth Straight Win as Medina Visits Boliantz Stadium

Nordonia (7-1) Hosts a Medina Team That Is Still Looking for Its First Road Win in Its First Suburban League Season

Knights Riding a Four-Game Winning Streak

Nordonia enters tonight at 7-1 overall and 4-1 in the Suburban League National Conference. The Knights have won four straight since a 23-21 loss at Highland on Sept. 11. That run includes a 23-9 win over Hudson, a 34-25 win over North Royalton and a 44-14 win at Solon. Last Friday, Nordonia rolled past Stow-Munroe Falls 45-14.

Offense has carried coach Scott Barwidi’s first season. Nordonia has scored 303 points through eight games, an average of nearly 38 per game. The defense has allowed 143 points, or about 18 per game.

At Stow, the Knights passed for 233 yards and two touchdowns. CJ Mayes ran for two scores. Grant Kaminski added a rushing touchdown and a 42 yard touchdown catch. Jackson Neal was perfect on extra points and made a 38 yard field goal.

Medina’s Bumpy First Year in the Suburban League

Medina moved from the Greater Cleveland Conference to the Suburban League for the 2026-27 school year. The Bees come in at 2-6 overall and 2-3 in conference play. They opened with losses to Findlay, Hoover and Brunswick. Two of those were close, an 18-14 loss to Hoover and a 44-36 loss at Brunswick.

Medina picked up its first win Sept. 11, beating Stow-Munroe Falls 46-40 in overtime. Lopsided losses to Highland, Wadsworth and Hudson followed. The Bees bounced back last Friday with a 35-27 win over North Royalton.

Quarterback Adam Barr was the story in that win. He completed 25 of 30 passes for 281 yards and four touchdowns. Barr also ran for 100 yards. Slowing him down will likely be a top priority for the Nordonia defense.

Road games have been the biggest problem for the Bees. Medina is 0-4 away from home this season and 2-2 at home. Nordonia, meanwhile, has not lost at home and is 4-0 there. The Bees have scored 152 points and allowed 286, about 19 points scored and 36 allowed per game.

How the Common Opponents Stack Up

Both teams have already played four of the same opponents:

  • Highland: Nordonia lost 23-21. Medina lost 47-0.
  • Hudson: Nordonia won 23-9. Medina lost 41-7.
  • North Royalton: Nordonia won 34-25. Medina won 35-27.
  • Stow-Munroe Falls: Nordonia won 45-14. Medina won 46-40 in overtime.

Those results favor Nordonia, but the North Royalton scores were nearly identical. Medina has also shown it can score in bunches, putting up 35 or more points three times this season. A slow start could make this one closer than the records suggest.
