Many of you are familiar with the local gem Blossoms N Bows. How could you not be? This little shop has the cutest purses, clothes, shoes, and pretty much any adorable little feminine trinket you can find. Many of you have heard of the Sagamore Hills business, but many locals do not know the backstory.
The Maple Heights native, Jody Ondrus, is the proud owner of Blossoms N Bows, located at 357 W Aurora Road, Northfield, OH 44067. The business has been around for over 35 years and in the Sagamore Hills location for the last 7 years. Jody started her creative journey as a floral designer for businesses, homes, and weddings. She is also self taught in a 15th-century paper art called quilling, which she mastered enough to become one of America’s reps for the Quilling Guild of England and also began the Quilling Club of Northeast Ohio. This group creates quilled artwork that available in the shop. The entire purchase of these items is donated to various charities.
Jody continues her love of craft making by holding art and craft classes in her lovely boutique. The classes are held 3 times a day, 2-3 days per week with 2 classes offered in the afternoon, and 1 class is offered in the evening. Jody and her students create wreaths, centerpieces, canvas painting and other artwork, jewelry, and many more fun things. She also offers one on one classes. Craft classes are held on Tuesday, art related classes on Friday, and card making classes every other Saturday. Like most businesses, the boutique owner follows all CDC COVID-19 related guidelines. Each person is assigned a table separated from the instructor by plexiglass and, of course, has access to hand sanitizer. Masks must also be worn.
The most ironic thing about art classes being held in her shop is that the Sagamore Hills Blossoms N Bows location was opened initially to have more space to create her art pieces and store her accessories for her online shops. Day after day, customers would stop by, see her many items, and request different things to purchase on her shopping trips. So, she decided to turn her art workshop into a gift shop and ladies boutique.
The boutique owner, having been featured in Better Homes and Gardens and other multiple magazines and books for her gorgeous work, is not hard to believe once you step foot inside her beautiful store. Jody’s work, along with having a great eye when buying from vendors nationwide, makes this store one of the unique women’s boutique and gift shops around.
