Baseball: Martwon Shannon’s Big Day Propels Twinsburg Varsity Tigers Past North Royalton

Martwon Shannon drove in five runs on one hit to lead Twinsburg Varsity Tigers past North Royalton 11-4 on Thursday at North Royalton High School. Shannon hit a grand slam to left field in the sixth inning, scoring four runs, and hit a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning, scoring one.

Cole Kramer, Gavin Davis, and Shannon at the bottom of Twinsburg Varsity Tiger’s lineup combined for five of the team’s 10 hits in their victory. They scored two runs and drove in seven.

North Royalton opened the scoring in the first after #14 hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

Twinsburg Varsity Tigers took the lead in the top of the fourth inning after William Bamler singled to left field, and Kramer singled to center field, each scoring one run.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, North Royalton went back into the lead after #11 hit a sacrifice fly, #27 hit a sacrifice fly, and North Royalton scored on a passed ball, each scoring one run.

Twinsburg Varsity Tigers took the lead in the top of the sixth. Shannon hit a grand slam to left field, to give Twinsburg Varsity Tigers the advantage, 6-4.

Twinsburg Varsity Tigers scored five runs on two hits in the top of the seventh inning. An error scored two runs, an error scored one run, Shannon hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Davis singled, scoring one run.

Lucas Tinter stepped on the mound first for Twinsburg Varsity Tigers. The hurler gave up two hits and four runs (one earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out two and walking none. Nathan Kimmel threw two and two-thirds innings of shutout ball for Twinsburg Varsity Tigers in relief. The pitcher gave up one hit, striking out four and walking two.

Twinsburg Varsity Tigers accumulated 10 hits in the game. Kramer, Twinsburg Varsity Tigers’s number seven hitter, led the team with three hits in four at-bats. Lane Conway collected two hits for Twinsburg Varsity Tigers in four at bats. Jason Cox led Twinsburg Varsity Tigers with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game. Twinsburg Varsity Tigers turned one double play in the game.

#14, #11, and #27 each collected one hit for North Royalton. #14, #11, and #27 each drove in one run for North Royalton. North Royalton turned one double play in the game.

Twinsburg Varsity Tigers will travel to Lake for their next game on Saturday.
