Nordonia District shows pride in Knight’s Playoff March

If pride were touchdowns, the Nordonia High School Knights would be champions for years.

As soon as the final whistle sounded November 12, ending the three-game playoff run 35-7, against Hoban, the fans began showing their love and pride on social media to the players and coaches.

One person wrote on Facebook, “congratulations to the Nordonia Knights on an amazing season. You have made all of us proud to be a Knight.”

Another person wrote on the same Knight support page “We couldn’t have asked for a better ending to our time with Nordonia Football. Thank you to everyone that has supported the boys this season.”

The person also posted a montage of photos from the season.

The team finished its Division II, Region 5 season with 10 wins and two losses.

Nordonia Athletic Director Rob Eckenrode agreed.

“I am extremely proud of this group of young men and coaches,” he said. “They represented Nordonia High School with sportsmanship and class throughout the season. Thank you for all of your hard work this season.”

The AD also wanted to reach out to the community.

“Thank you for supporting the team this fall,” Eckenrode added.

Other than Hoban, the only losses this year were a 28 -20 away conference defeat September 10, against North Royalton and an October 8, home conference loss of 27-13 to SMFHS.

Nordonia’s last state championship appearance was a 2014 loss to Cincinnati LaSalle and a 2002 loss to Dayton Chaminade-Julienne, according to Eckenrode.
