Nordonia Drama Presents Seussical, Musical and Drama Camp Sign Up Time

Nordonia Drama is getting ready to dive right into McElligot’s Pool and the world of Dr. Seuss as they plan to present Seussical, Musical as this year’s spring musical production.  Oh, the places we will go as we travel from the Jungle of Nool to the land of the Who’s in this wacky, over the top fun-filled musical for the whole family!  Join us to see what antics these Seussian characters will get into this March 27th-29th.

The story, narrated in part by the whimsical Cat in the Hat (Nathan Shaffer), centers around Horton the Elephant (Noah Johnson), who finds himself faced with a double challenge.  Not only must he protect his tiny friend Jojo (Stella Naymik) and all the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left to his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird (Jamie Brasdovich).

Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, and a trial, all coordinated by the Sour Kangaroos (Elizabeth Waight and Emerson Beery) and the other jungle animals, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz (Libby Herberth) never loses faith in him.  Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community emerge triumphant in a story that makes you laugh while pulling at your heartstrings.

Also featured in the world of Whoville are the Mayor and his wife (Alex Bobay and Miah Montesano), and the butter-battling General Schmitz (Richard Spangler).  Another 30 cast members take on the roles of the jungle animals and Who citizens.  In addition to the cast, there are another 50 students working tirelessly offstage as members of the crews, running tech, and playing in the orchestra.

This year, we are thrilled to once again be participating in the Dazzle Awards at Playhouse Square!  The Dazzle Awards are high school musical theatre awards for Northeast Ohio, and after our four nominations for last year’s The Wizard of Oz, including Best Musical, we are thrilled to once again have the opportunity to showcase the incredible talent at Nordonia!

Helming this year’s musical production is Nordonia High School’s Director of Drama,

Chris Simmons.  Megan Gargano returns as Assistant Director and Choreographer while Sharon Alberson is serving as Vocal Director and this year’s student orchestra is under the direction of Kevin Niese and Ryan Dulaney.

Performances of this year’s production of Seussical will be: Friday and Saturday,

March 27th and 28th at 7:30 PM and Sunday, March 29th at 3 PM.  Tickets will be available to the public starting on February 17th.  Reserved seating is $15 a ticket and General Admission tickets are $10 a ticket.  Please visit www.nordoniadrama.com for more information on the show and to reserve your tickets!
