Nordonia High School Baseball Wins in Walk-Off Fashion
The Nordonia Varsity Knights baseball team proved their resilience on Monday, taking a 3-2 victory over the Solon Varsity Comets in the final frame. The game remained deadlocked at 2-2 until the bottom of the seventh inning when Kaminski delivered a clutch single to left field, driving in the winning run and sending the home crowd into a frenzy.
The pitching performance by Leitner was a cornerstone of the victory. Leitner earned the win after tossing a complete seven-inning game, surrendering only seven hits and two runs while striking out five Comets. Offensively, the Knights amassed 10 hits, with Mitchner leading the way with two hits. Additional RBI contributions came from Canzoni and Wolff, ensuring the Knights capitalized on their late-game opportunities.
Lady Knights Face Tough Pitching in Loss to Holy Name
While the baseball team celebrated, the Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights softball team faced a difficult challenge against the Holy Name Varsity Green Wave, falling 8-3. The Green Wave established an early lead, scoring in the first three innings, including a solo home run by Shiban in the second.
Nordonia’s offense was largely stifled by Holy Name’s Reis, who struck out 14 batters over seven innings. Despite the loss, the Lady Knights saw production from Ritchie, who led the team with two RBIs. Paul showed aggression on the basepaths, recording two stolen hits, while Shirey and Nyce also contributed hits. The Lady Knights will look to rebound quickly as they prepare for their next home game.

Meanwhile, the Lady Knights (softball) will remain at home to welcome the Solon Comets, providing an immediate opportunity to return to the win column.
