Village of Northfield, Ohio – Northfield Village Fire Department (NVFD) is excited to announce Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has awarded NVFD $26,936.00 to be used to acquire 13 sets of Morning Pride structural firefighting pants and coats.
This grant funding will allow NVFD to replace a significant amount of turnout gear that has reached the end of its usable life. Turnout gear is worn by firefighters to protect them from the heat inside a fire, from the cold while working outside in the winter, from lacerations and abrasions during rescues, and readily identifies them as emergency service workers. Quality turnout gear is vital to protecting firefighters so that they can enter dangerous situations to make a positive impact during an emergency; risking their lives so that others may live.

NVFD will formally accept this grant award at the January 22, 2020 Village of Northfield Council Meeting at 7:30PM. Firefighters have already begun getting measured for the new turnout gear with the hopes to have the new protective equipment in service by the end of March.
