Obituary: Nancy A. Werner (nee Pankuch) and John H. Werner III

Nancy A. Werner (nee Pankuch), 67, of Sagamore Hills, Ohio, passed away at home in Homosassa, FL on May 8th, 2022 and John H. Werner III, 70, of Sagamore Hills, Ohio, passed away at home in Homosassa, FL on October 26th, 2022.

John and Nancy grew up in Maple Heights, Ohio and were married in October of 1975. Before children they enjoyed traveling the states and flipped a few houses. John always had one of his multiple cameras ready to film all their adventures and family life. John and Nancy were very hands-on people. They both enjoyed arts and crafts, gardening, and shared a love for animals. John was a self-employed carpenter and Nancy became a nurse in 1974. Both had many talents and skills and were always willing to help anyone in need. Nancy was a loving mother who gave all she had to her family and others. She always went above and beyond in everything she put her hand to. She enjoyed reading, cooking/baking, music, and watching shows, anything from Antiques Roadshow to live surgeries. She had a unique sense of humor and was not afraid to tell you that you were an idiot, a kook, or you looked absolutely fabulous! Nancy enjoyed the color turquoise (which reminded her of the Caribbean) so much that she would buy turquoise tchotchkes, that would be scattered throughout their home. Even the Ziploc bags were turquoise. John enjoyed teaching carpenter skills to anyone who needed help with home projects and he spent numerous hours tinkering on his beloved Volvo. John and Nancy retired to Florida in September of 2018 where they continued their life in a warmer climate and could tend to their flowers and gardens year-round.

John and Nancy leave behind their two children, John and Sarah, and four grandchildren. They will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Cemetery in Bedford Heights, Ohio on May 20, 2023. There will be a celebration of life at Lutheran Church of the Covenant in Maple Heights, Ohio from 12-2pm.

John and Nancy loved animals. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the SPCA of Greater Cleveland or to your local animal shelter.
