Obituary: Sondra (Tutchings) Schoenegge

Sondra (Tutchings) Schoenegge, age 87, of Norwalk, passed away December 26, 2023, at the Willows at Bellevue, after several bouts with pneumonia.

Sandy was born November 8, 1936, in Norwalk, and graduated in 1954 from Norwalk High School.  She attended Ohio University, where she met her husband, “Doc” Schoenegge.  When he was offered a teaching position in Macedonia, Ohio, that city became her new home.  She and Doc were founding members of Our Lady of Guadalupe church and were very active members of their community.

Sandy was a very dedicated, hardworking woman.  Her work career included bookkeeper for Brown Derby Restaurants Corporate in Walton Hills, for Universal Ohio in Cleveland and Revco Corporate in Twinsburg.

In 2003, she moved into her Norwalk family home to care for her ill brother, P. Wesley Tutchings and began a new chapter of her life.  She was just as active in her new community, baking for the St. Paul Episcopal Church Community Dinners and crocheting for the Linus Project.

Her final chapter was such a happy one!  The Willows at Bellevue Assisted Living Facility gave her such joy.  The staff made her one of their own, nicknaming her *Sondra Shenanigans*, which always brought a smile to her face.  Their care of our mother was stupendous, she always felt like a princess with the attention and love showered on her by the entire staff.  We cannot thank them enough for loving our Mom.

She was an avid college football fan, cheering for both The Ohio State University and Notre Dame, only conflicted when the two played each other!Family-time was valuable to her and playing cards was a large part of every family gathering, – she bids 2 (and takes 4…..jes’ sayin’)!

She is survived by her brother, Terrence (Sharon) Tutchings, daughter, Donna Norfolk, son, Paul (Christine) Schoenegge, daughter, Collette Schoenegge, granddaughters, Amber (Stephen) Pisle, Melany, and Elizabeth Verbiar, and 5 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donald “Doc” Schoenegge; and daughter Marilyn Verbiar.
