Police Department POLICE: Village of Northfield Police Reports – February

THEFT-ALL OTHER LARCENY TYPES On January 28, 2020 officers were called to Northfield Retirement Facility to take a report of theft. A resident there states that about thirty five dollars of money and about 6 Percocet pills were missing. The nurse manager told officers that she was told that the resident noticed this sometime last week and did not want to report, then suddenly yesterday he wanted to report it. The case is closed due to it is unknown where the incident may or may of not taken place.

THEFT-ALL OTHER LARCENY TYPES On January 30th, 2020, at 1650 hours a victim came to the Northfield Village Police Department to file a theft report. I investigated the theft and found a suspect that did pick up the property. The suspect returned the found property to the MGM. The MGM then returned the property to the victim. There are no pending charges and the case is now closed.

1/31/2020 15:37  A local resident came to the station to turn in some pills that he found in his house from today to be destroyed. Kurt stated that while cleaning and emptying out his step daughters room of her belongings he found a small container that contained two and half pink pills with the writing, “B705” on them. The pills are identified as, alprazolam 0.5mg a schedule 4 controlled substance. Kurt wanted the pills out of his house and did not know what to do with them so he brought them to the police department for destruction. The pills were logged into evidence.

LOST PROPERTY On 02/01/2020 a resident came to NVPD to file a report for a lost or stolen firearm. The resident stated that he had not seen the firearm in about a year because it was locked up. He went to get the firearm to go to the shooting range today and realized it was missing. There are multiple people in the household, and the key to the lock box it was in was readily accessible to anyone. 

MUFFLER; MUFFLER CUTOUT; EXCESSIVE SMOKE, GAS OR NOISE On 02/02/2020, at approximately 1046 hours, a traffic enforcement stop was conducted in the area of Northfield Rd. and May Ave. for a marked lanes and loud exhaust violation. After a K9 indicated to the odor of narcotics on the vehicle, the vehicle was searched and 7 grams of Methamphetamine, a Methamphetamine water bong, and digital scale were recovered from the vehicle. The driver was arrested and charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

OBSTRUCTING OFFICIAL BUSINESS On February 3rd, 2020 at approximately 2209 hours, I was in the Pepper’s parking lot when I observed a silver van traveling southbound on Northfield Rd. Right before the van got to Circle K, he made a u-turn and was now traveling northbound. After the u-turn, the van was in the outside then changed lanes without a turn signal to the inside lane. As I followed the van northbound on Northfield Rd., the van the changed lanes again without a turn signal. I initiated the traffic stop on Northfield Rd. at Kennedy Blvd. At that point an investigation was started. 

After investigation, the driver was arrested for OVI, OVI refusal, turn signals and Obstructing Official Business.

THEFT-BY DECEPTION On 02/05/2020, at approximately 1401 hours, I Ptl. Wilson #810, responded to 81 Ledge Rd. for a report of fraud. R/P stated he had been talking to a female online for approximately 1 month and he sent her money, then realized he may have been scammed. A report was taken..

THEFT On 01/19/2019 hours, NVPD officers had responded to MGM Northfield Park in reference to a possible theft. Upon arrival, officers were made aware by security that a patron had apparently lost a sum of money along with a debit card, drivers license, and a VLT voucher. A investigation was then initiated.

THEFT-ALL OTHER LARCENY TYPES 
On 02/06/2020, at approximately 1424 hours, I Ptl. Wilson #810, took a report on station in reference to stolen money out of a wallet at the MGM Northfield Park Casino that occurred on 02/25/2020. An investigation was started. 

On 02/18/2020, the suspect in this case paid back restitution to the MGM and the victim had her money returned to her. At this time, this case will be closed and no charges will be filed.

AGG. ROBBERY-BUSINESS-KNIFE (CUT INSTRUMENT) On 02/06/2020, at approximately 1507 hours, Northfield Village Officers responded to Subway 10468 Northfield Rd. for a report of an armed robbery. A description of a suspect was given, and a short while late officers observed a male matching the description running through back yards. After a brief foot chase, the suspect was apprehended, arrested and charged with Aggravated Robbery.

THEFT-ALL OTHER LARCENY TYPES On February 8th, 2020 NVPD officers responded to the MGM for a general assistance. The MGM security wanted assistance approaching a patron who was suspected for stealing a voucher from a machine. 

Upon arrival, said suspect was at the main entrance with MGM security. The suspect denied acquisitions. Video surveillance from the MGM was provided and victims were advised to contact the Northfield Village Police Department for to press charges.

DRUG POSSESSION  On February 10, 2020 at approximately 7:46 PM, a traffic stop was conducted on the Defendant’s vehicle for not having the vehicle’s tail lights illuminated. A K9 sniff was conducted and a subsequent search of the driver led to the discovery of a small amount of crack cocaine. The Defendant’s vehicle was released to an associate. The Defendant was later taken to the Summit County Jail to await court.

DRUG POSSESSION On February 12, 2020 the Defendant was a passenger of a vehicle which was stopped for equipment violations. The Defendant was identified as having an active warrant for her arrest. A K9 sniff was conducted and a subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in locating a small amount of drugs in the Defendant’s purse. The Defendant was also found to have a baggie containing crystal Methamphetamine on her person. The Defendant was charged with Possession of Drugs and later taken to the Macedonia City Jail to await court. 

On 2-12-20 at 0452 hrs. a female came to Northfield Village Police Department requesting to go to the hospital for a psychiatric episode. NVFD transported said female voluntarily to Bedford UH.

DRUG POSSESSION On February 14, 2020 at approximately 7:48 PM a traffic stop was conducted on the Defendant’s vehicle for a lane violation. The Defendant admitted to there a piece of a marijuana cigarette in the vehicle’s ash tray. A subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted. A small bag of marijuana was located along with several other items indicative to hard drug use where observed. The Defendant was found in possession of a paper fold containing Heroin and a baggie containing Crystal Meth. She was placed under arrest for Possession of Drugs and later taken to the Macedonia City Jail. 

DRUG POSSESSION On Saturday February 15th, 2020 at approximately 0350 hours, NVPD officer called into dispatch that he was out with two people on North Plaza Dr. just east of NVPD. When I arrived at the location, he advised that he was with one of the females and the other kept walking east on North Plaza and asked me to stop her. I located the female behind Summit Plaza. After running the female through LEADS dispatch advised she had an active bench warrant. At that point, she was detained and the warrant was confirmed with PCSO. After a search of her person, she was arrested for possession of felony drugs. 

POSSESSION OF PARAPHERNALIA On 2-16-20 at 0232 hrs. a traffic stop was initiated on a vehicle in the parking lot of Together Leather (10316 Northfield Rd.) as the owner of the vehicle had an outstanding bench warrant with Macedonia PD. K9 indication on the vehicle resulted in finding drug paraphernalia related to methamphetamine use on the passenger and in the passengers purse. The driver was arrested on the warrant and handed over to Macedonia PD. The passenger was was written a summons for drug paraphernalia with a mandatory NVMC court date.

AGGRAVATED MENACING On 2-16-20 at 1952 hrs. officers responded to the MGM Casino reference a patron that was calling security and making threatening statements involving bringing a firearm to the business. MGM security signed a charge for aggravated menacing. NVPD then, with assistance of Streetsboro PD, arrived at the patrons residence in Streetsboro, arresting him without incident. He was brought back to NVPD where he booked and processed. He posted a cash bond and was given a mandatory NVMC court date.

THEFT-ALL OTHER LARCENY TYPES On 02/18/2020, a resident came to NVPD to file a report of theft. The resident stated that sometime between 01/01/2020 and 01/24/2020, someone went into his garage and stole his silver coins. There was no sign of forced entry and no tampering with the lock.

On 02/23/2020, at approximately 14:00 I responded to redi storage for a report of a stole catalytic converter. when i arrived on scene, I was met by David Jamison, the owner of the mobile home which the catalytic converter was stolen. An investigation was started.

AMPHETAMINE-POSSESS On 02/24/2020, I Ptl. Wilson #810, located a vehicle in the parking lot of the MGM Casino 10777 Northfield Rd, that had stolen license plates on it. The occupant of the vehicle was located and he was placed under arrest for Receiving Stolen Property. While conducting a vehicle inventory I also located drugs and drug paraphernalia. Suspect was arrested and charged.
