Julie Is Back, and the Show Has a New Format
Julie kicks off the episode by explaining a change. The show moves to a new platform called LocalPod, and it will now be audio only instead of video. She says the switch is about saving time so the show can keep going. She plans to release episodes about once a week depending on how much local news there is to share.
Lisa’s Treasures Is Moving and Everything Is On Sale
The biggest news of the episode is that Lisa’s Treasures is relocating. The shop is currently in Northfield Center behind Spennato’s. It is moving to Northfield Village Plaza, in the space once occupied by the dollar store, roughly halfway between Ground Zero and Compadres.
Julie describes Lisa’s Treasures as an eclectic mix of furniture, dishes, clothing, tools, and collectibles, including baseball memorabilia. She notes the store buys its inventory from auctions rather than accepting consignments. Because of the move, most items are currently 50 percent off, though some pieces, including certain furniture, are excluded.
She adds that Northfield Village Plaza is shaping up as a destination for secondhand and discount shopping, pointing to neighbors like Goodwill, a newer pawn shop, and Bucks Discount Warehouse.
New Openings at Macedonia Commons
Miniso recently had a soft opening at Macedonia Commons. Julie describes it as a toy and novelty style store carrying licensed items like Hello Kitty and Pokemon merchandise, along with international snacks and small gift items.
Buffalo Wild Wings Go, a smaller express format location, is also coming soon to Macedonia Commons. Julie shares a bit of trivia on the origin of the BW3 and B dubs nicknames before noting that details on the express location’s menu are not yet available.
Business Anniversaries
Two local businesses recently marked milestones. Roseland celebrated 65 years, and Will’s Jewelers celebrated 91 years. Julie mentions the publication offers promotional packages for businesses with upcoming anniversaries.
Construction Projects Around Town
Several projects are nearing completion. Divinity Landing, an apartment style housing development for residents 55 and older, is being built near Northfield Bowling Lanes. Holiday Inn Express, located in Macedonia near Penn Station, is also close to opening.
Fairfield Inn Hotel is planned for the site of the former Knights Inn near Taco Mexicano’s, though Julie says the project is currently facing delays tied to a traffic study.
La Mesa Mexican Buffet Opens in Sagamore Hills
La Mesa Mexican Buffet has opened in Sagamore Hills in a space formerly occupied by Loose Moose Tuscabin. Julie notes the owner previously ran Taco Mexicano’s. The restaurant is currently awaiting its liquor license. She also points out that the storefront next door, formerly 77 Mediterranean, remains available for a new business.
