Undefeated: Knights Win 38-31 Against Crosstown Rival Twinsburg Tigers

By Emily Zwegat

How could we already be talking about the sixth game of the season? It feels like yesterday; the community was talking about how excited we were for the upcoming season. But I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again: time flies when you’re winning.

On Friday, September 22nd, the Knights defeated their crosstown rivals, the Twinsburg Tigers, in a nail-biter of a game.

Notable performances came from quite a few of our players on Friday night. They range from starting quarterback Ben Chesser, who had 5 total touchdowns. Rocco DeLorenzo had 22 rushes for 121 yards and 4 receptions for 26 yards.

Wide receiver Israel Petite had 5 interceptions for 46 yards and one touchdown, and wide receiver Ricardo Ruffin had 66 yards. There were other notable performances from linebacker Caleb Aiken had an interception, linebacker Brendan Hermensky 10 tackles and a sack, and defensive lineman Asher Wilson had 2 sacks.

The boys walked onto the field with a higher power against the Twinsburg Tigers, as they have an undefeated record. But, they had a rough start against their crosstown rival. The Tigers caught the Knights by surprise with a challenging 1st and 2nd quarter, ending halftime with a lead against our Knights with a score of 14-17. However, momentum changed in the second half as Head Coach Jeffrey Fox and the other incredible Nordonia High School coaches gave the boys motivation to win the game. The Knights walked off the field with a score of 38-31 against the Tigers, extending their undefeated record to 6-0.
