Monthly Challenges
For Grades K-5 – Monthly challenges will be located in children’s area. Complete the challenge for a chance to win a small prize. For the April project, check out our “Months of the Year” challenge!

Story Times
Baby Time
Thursdays, April 12-May 3 10:15 a.m.
For children 24 months and under with a parent or caregiver. Our programs feature bounces, songs, and stories.
Story Time
Thursdays, April 12-May 3 11:30 a.m.
For children 2-5 years old, with two-year-olds accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Short stories, rhymes, and more!

Cookies and Conversation
The second Wednesday of each month at 3:30 p.m., meet to talk about what’s going on your life, school, town or the world. We’ll discuss philosophy, current events or whatever is on the group’s mind. And remember we have cookies! Wednesday, April 11 at 3:30 p.m.

Coffee & Conversation Book Discussion
Join us for some great conversation with your fellow Nordonia Hills readers! Our next discussion is Thursday, April 12 at 2 p.m. We will discuss Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh.

Science Saturday
Join us for great hands on STEAM fun! Children, school age and up, bring your moms, dads, and the whole family. Saturday, April 14, 2:30 p.m.

Family Night
Join our program for families of all ages! One Monday a month at 6:30 p.m., we’ll get together for some great crafts. On Monday, April 16 – We are going to make a parakeet puppet.

Wellness Yoga: Yoga Off the Mat
Learn soothing stretches that you can incorporate into your daily life in this gentle yoga series with Diane Bielecki, who graduated from the Cleveland Clinic School of Yoga. No mat is needed – stretches are done standing or in a chair. Please dress in comfortable clothing and arrive 5-10 minutes early so that class may begin on time. This class is limited to twenty participants, and registration is strongly suggested. Tuesday, April 17; May 1, 15, 29, 6:30 p.m.

Writers’ Guild of Nordonia Hills
Writers wanted! New writers and old hands welcome: fiction, nonfiction, and everything in between. Have your work critiqued and give feedback to others in a fun and friendly environment. Please bring a sample of your work to share. Light snacks provided. Meets the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, April 18.

“Tales For a Spring Evening”
Hear some stories that are “not just for children.” Some tales will make you think, some will make you laugh, some will make you wonder, but all of them have hidden wisdom for you to discover. Storytellers from the Western Reserve Association for the Preservation and Perpetuation of Storytelling present an adult story concert. Registration suggested. Refreshments served. Thursday, April 19 at 7 p.m.

Nordonia Hills Game Time
Join our regular gaming “meet-up” each month for patrons who enjoy board games, cards, chess, role-playing, war games, and collectible card games. The next meet-up will be on Saturday, April 21, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Join fellow local players – Sharpen your intellect – Enjoy the social aspects of games. Refreshments are served. No registration is necessary.

Teen Mini Makerspace
For students in grade 5 and up. One Tuesday a month at 6:30 p.m., we will get together and create using a different medium each time. On April 23 – We will be weaving with nature.

Adult Coloring Night
Bring your own coloring book or choose from provided coloring pages and spend the evening relaxing and coloring with new friends. Tuesday, April 24, 6 p.m.

College Funding Workshop
The cost of a college education has skyrocketed and, as a result, many parents feel completely overwhelmed, with little to no guidance on how they can minimize the cost of college. College Funding Educators of America was formed to provide comprehensive education to parents so that they can maximize financial aid and understand various college funding strategies that will help reduce their family’s out-of-pocket expenses. Tuesday, April 24, 6 p.m.

After School Club
On Wednesday, April 25 at 4 p.m., make a marble maze.

Mystery Book Discussions
The Mystery Book Lovers discussion group is an informal group of adult mystery readers. Our next discussion will be “Reader’s Choice” of a G.K. Chesterton mystery on Wednesday, April 25 at 7 p.m.

The Magic of Seashells
Karen Eckart presents a lively look at the fascinating world of seashells: collecting, identifying, and more. All ages welcome. Bring your own shells for identification. Examples will be passed around, plus a treasure hunt for kids. Each person will get a shark’s tooth, a shell, and handouts to take home. Registration suggested. Thursday, April 26, 6:30 p.m.

Teens Do Something
Need volunteer hours? Join us one Saturday a month from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., and drop in at any time. The next meeting will be on Saturday, April 28. Some of the projects we’ll be doing are making library decorations, creating busy bags for Akron Children’s Hospital, and cleaning library books and shelves. Any questions please ask Miss Sue.

The Wolf: Fact vs Myth
Learn about the family life of wolves and the importance they hold in the ecosystem. Myths vs. facts are covered that reveal the truth about these misunderstood animals. Ask questions in a Q&A session and meet an ambassador wolf. Saturday, April 28, 2 p.m.

Paint Night
Paint your own masterpiece and discover your creativity! Each artist will have a finished painting to take home at the end of the night. Sign-ups are limited to two spots per person. Both nights will feature the same painting, so sign ups per person are limited to one night each. Sixteen and over, please. All supplies provided, and registration is strongly encouraged by calling 330-467-8595, or by stopping in the library. Wednesday, May 2, 6-8 p.m.

Crafters’ Corner
Join your fellow craft enthusiasts for daylong fun. Bring your own supplies. All crafts welcome. Lots of table space to spread out. Refreshments served. Come for an hour or the entire day. Saturday, May 5, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Messy Monday
Messy Monday is one Monday a month. We will try cotton ball throw painting on Monday, May 7 at 6 p.m.

Stitch Clique
Grab your crocheting/knitting needles and yarn and stitch the evening away. Join us the second Tuesday of each month for crocheting/knitting tips, friendship, advice and more. Refreshments will be served. Tuesday, May 8, 6-8 p.m.

Paws for Reading
Read a book to Edmund, a certified therapy dog. Bring a book or read one of ours! This is a great way for children to practice their literacy skills and gain more confidence in reading aloud. Children of all ages are welcome. Tuesday, May 8, 6:30 p.m.

Socrates Café
Interested in candid, thought-provoking conversation? Join your fellow patrons at the Socrates Café, an informal adult discussion that takes place each month here at the library. The Cafe opens on Wednesday, May 9 at 6:30 p.m. 16 & over, please.

Home Organizing
Feeling the urge to purge? Declutter your home and organize your life! Experts Jennifer Klingbeil and Saundra Wright from North Coast Ohio Professional Organizers share simple, effective tips to help you discover more time, more calm and less clutter! Thursday, May 10, at 7 p.m. Registration suggested.

Megagame: Night Falls
Under cover of darkness, vampires clash with the villagers who hunt them. Do you have the strength of will and negotiating savvy when night falls? This is an exciting new interactive mix of board game, role-playing, tactical thinking, and model UN. Saturday, May 12, 1 – 4 p.m. Come alone or bring some friends. The more players, the better! Teams will be formed at the event. No prior experience necessary. This event will have snacks and prizes! Registration suggested.

Monday Casual Reads
Join us the second Monday of each month for reader-to-reader book discussions, fun, and sharing with fellow light reading lovers. We will discuss Still Life, by Louise Penny, on Monday, May 14 at 2 p.m.
