Senior Citizens and Heat

No doubt about it – summer has come to Summit County. Recent heat and humidity has made the past few days pretty toasty – and the next few are going to be even hotter.

Conditions like this can be hazardous and even deadly for elderly people, so the Summit County Sheriff’s Office is asking everyone to be especially neighborly during this heatwave. If you know someone who is elderly and lives alone, please check on them to make sure they are okay. Is their air conditioning operating? Are they staying hydrated? Do they need medical care?

The Sheriff’s Senior Watch Program looks after dozens of senior citizens, but we can’t be everywhere – so LET’S ALL LOOK OUT FOR THOSE IN NEED.
