Summit County Animal Control Hosting “Pawlidays” Pet Food Giveaway

SUMMIT COUNTY, OHIO—Summit County residents are invited to join County Executive Ilene Shapiro and Summit County Animal Control on Tuesday, December 20 from 5:00—7:00 p.m. for another “Pawlidays” giveaway event! Residents can join a drive-thru distribution of free dog cat food and cat litter while supplies last. To help gauge the number of residents and furry friends attending, please complete the form at:https://forms.gle/gQYXLRBaD93hnRYG6. Animal Control previously provided food for nearly 200 cats and dogs at the November 16 pet food giveaway.

The pet food giveaway is part of Animal Control’s Pawlidays Adoption Event, now running through Friday, December 30 during which adoption costs will be reduced to $28 for dogs (regularly $94) and $5 for cats (regularly $50). The animals are fully vetted, which includes bloodwork, flea treatments, intestinal de-worming, spay or neuter, and vaccinations, and ready to be taken home. Each adopted pet will go home with food and litter if needed. Animal Control is also providing special holiday gifts for adopted pets—dog crates, cat condos and pet gates! Additionally, those who adopt a dog will receive a 2022 Summit County Dog License included in the adoption cost.

The distribution of free pet food is made possible by Animal Control’s new GOODS program, a partnership with Greater Goods Charities. The GOODS program provides pet supplies like food and litter to distribute to local rescues and pantries to stretch dollars and assist more pets and people. Animal Control is working with Peanut’s Pet Pantry to distribute the supplies, as well. More information on this program is available at: https://co.summitoh.net/pages/Greater-Good-Program.html.
