We are sad to announce the passing of Nicholas ”Nick” Drew Joviak. Nick passed away May 21, 2023 in Colorado Springs, CO. He will be missed by many and leaves behind a loving family. He is survived by his wife Elisa Joviak, son Kilian Joviak and step-children Drake and Aria Hilts, his parents, Nathan and Denise Joviak (nee Looby), brother Derek Timbers (Dani), and sisters Kristin (Rob) Janke and Katie (Greg) Holloway.
Nick was born October 28, 1989 in Cleveland, OH. Nick spent his younger years vying for the attention of everyone in his family. People thought his little sister Katie was quiet but really Nick just never was. He always had something he had found or a trick that he wanted to show you. His daringness quickly led him to his love for skateboarding, snowboarding, trampolines, and motorcycles. He also played soccer at a young age and could always be found in high school cheering on his football buddies with his other friends. He enjoyed many pop culture trappings such as Futurama, It’s Always Sunny, Metal Gear Solid and The Boondock Saints just to name a few. Sometimes these lead to innocent memorabilia purchases and other times a tattoo of a favorite character (Bender). He also had a great love for music which he almost always had playing.
Nick loved to express his Irish and German heritage. A good Irish pub or German restaurant were always his favorite places to eat and drink and Nick was well known to enjoy some food and drinks. This also led to more tattoos. He was a devoted Cleveland Browns and Detroit Red Wings fan. His favorite place to be was always the Outer Banks, NC and swore he would go live on the beach there from a young age.
Nick worked at his father’s jewelry store and brother’s valet service through high school and college. Nick attended college first at the University of Toledo and then The University of Akron, graduating as an RN with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Nick moved to Colorado Springs, CO after graduating and began his career in nursing. Nick, more than anything, loved kids and dogs. Almost as much as they loved him back. This led him to a job in pediatric home health care where he would spend his work hours taking care of his kids. He also spoiled his rescue bulldog Samson at home, affectionately called Bubba. Eventually, working his way into the office, Nick became the Director of Nursing at Team Select Home Health Care. Nick met his wife Elisa in Colorado and were married in 2020. They were blessed with a beautiful son Kilian in 2022.
A celebration of Nick’s life will be held on 7/9/2023 from 2:00-5:00 PM at Brubaker’s Pub, 5823 Darrow Rd., Hudson, OH 44236. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to go to Nick’s son Kilian. A donation method to be forthcoming.
