After starting the 2023 season on fire with a record of (4-2-1), the Nordonia Knights have struggled as of late in their past few games.
Covering the boy’s win over Solon earlier the month, the Nordonia Knights went on to lose to Highland (Medina) by a final score of 2-1.
The Knights then got themselves back into the win column defeating South (Willoughby) with a final score of 2-0.
After their win over South, the Knights have struggled and have not won another game since.
The next three games were losses for the boys’ soccer team, as they lost to Twinsburg 8-0, North Royalton 5-2, and Wadsworth 7-0.
Knights Soccer Head Coach Steve Toth is still motivating his team to bounce back as this was before going into their recent game against North Ridgeville.
“We have had a rough few games this past week”, said Head Coach Steve Toth. “With losses to N. Royalton, Twinsburg, and Wadsworth. N. Royalton was one we let get away from us after coming back from a 1-0 halftime deficit. Twinsburg and Wadsworth just outplayed us from start to finish. Saturday the 22nd, we play undefeated North Ridgeville at home; I am hoping we can get back to our earlier season form and surprise them. We will have to be at our very best and hope for a break or two. The boys have put in a good week of practice, so I am hopeful for a good result”.
Unfortunately for the Knights, they fell at home to North Ridgeville by a final score of 5-1.
Currently, this sets the Knights season record at (4-6-1) with a winning percentage of 41%.
The Knights have a home record of (3-3) and an away record of (1-3-1). Their conference record is currently sitting at (1-3).
Despite the Knights’ four game losing streak, the season is still alive as they still have six regular season games remaining.
The Knights remaining opponents are Hudson, Perry (Massillon), Stow-Munroe Falls (Stow), Cuyahoga Falls, Benedictine (Cleveland), and Brecksville-Broadview Heights (Broadview Heights).
Out of these remaining six games, the Knights will have three home games and three away games.
Their next opponent will be on the road against Hudson on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at 7:00p.m.
The Knights’ look to get back into the winning column which starts with their match-up against Hudson.
Building off of that, the Knights will have an advantage to bounce back and fight for a winning season, and a hopeful playoff push. Let’s see what the boys can do!
