EQUES® Law Group Partner Matthew A. Kearney Takes Leave to Join the Small Business Administration as General Counsel

Northfield, Ohio: EQUES® Law Group is proud to announce that Partner Matthew A. Kearney has been selected to serve as General Counsel for the Small Business Administration (SBA). This prestigious appointment presents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Matt, who will be taking a six-month leave of absence from the firm to serve in this important role.

During his time at EQUES® Law Group, Matt played a pivotal role in expanding the firm’s presence and influence, particularly in the Northfield hub. His leadership in litigation and personal injury significantly contributed to the firm’s growth and success. Matt’s outstanding legal work has been recognized for four consecutive years by Thomson Reuters, which selected him as a Super Lawyer and most notably in November 2023, he was admitted into the United States Supreme Court.

Although the entire firm, including Executive Partner Chris White, will miss Matt’s presence over the coming months, there is immense pride in his accomplishments and future endeavors. “We are, of course, sad to see Matt take this temporary leave, but we couldn’t be more proud of his achievements,” said White. “Matt has been an exceptional advocate for the firm’s culture, and his dedication to his clients and colleagues has made him a standout practitioner. We are confident he will gain invaluable experience in his new role.”

While there is a possibility that Matt’s appointment could be extended, EQUES® Law Group remains hopeful that he will return to the firm with fresh insights and experiences that will further enhance the services offered to clients.
