Twinsburg Varsity Tigers were victorious against Hudson Varsity Explorers 5-2 on Wednesday.
Hudson Varsity Explorers got on the board in the first inning after Corinne Stearns grounded out, scoring one run.
Twinsburg Varsity Tigers captured the lead, 3-1, in the bottom of the first after T. Peiris doubled to left field, M. Sweeney doubled to left field, and R. Velican grounded out, each scoring one run.
A. Basel earned the win for Twinsburg Varsity Tigers. The right-handed pitcher surrendered three hits and one run over five innings, striking out seven and walking four. Claire Eland took the loss for Hudson Varsity Explorers. The starter went four and two-thirds innings, giving up five runs on six hits, striking out three and walking one. M. Riley stepped in the circle first for Twinsburg Varsity Tigers. The starter surrendered four hits and one run over two innings, striking out none and walking one.
Sweeney provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Twinsburg Varsity Tigers with three runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Sweeney and A. Gurnak each collected two hits for Twinsburg Varsity Tigers. Twinsburg Varsity Tigers were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. S. Galluppi made the most plays with seven.
Bailey Deutsch and Stearns were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Hudson Varsity Explorers. Stearns led Hudson Varsity Explorers with two hits in four at bats. Hudson Varsity Explorers had patience at the plate, accumulating five walks for the game.
Twinsburg Varsity Tigers will travel to Field Falcons for their next game on Thursday.
