Northfield Village Police Reports: Two Fights, Drug Possession and Property Damage

Multiple Property Damage Reports Filed Last Week

Northfield Village Police responded to two separate property damage incidents during the last week of April.

On April 29, officers investigated a complaint at a residence on Kennedy Boulevard where a homeowner reported damage allegedly caused by a garbage truck. According to the report, the truck may have “pulled a cable wire off of the residence resulting in the damage.” The homeowner requested documentation of the incident.

In a separate incident on May 1, officers assisted with a residential lockout on McKinley Drive. Due to a power outage and the resident lacking keys for deadbolts, both police and fire departments made entry with the homeowner’s permission. The report indicates the “homeowner knew damage would occur and requested NVPD and NVFD make entry.”

Impaired Driving Arrest on Valley View Road

A driver was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence on May 2 at approximately 2:43 a.m. on Valley View Road SR 8.

Officer Wilson, while on routine patrol, “observed a silver Kia driving southbound on Northfield Rd. approaching Olde 8 Rd. commit a marked lanes violation.” After conducting a traffic stop, the officer noted “the strong odor of alcohol and other signs of impairment.”

Field sobriety tests were administered, and the driver was subsequently arrested. The driver provided a breath sample of .195 and was released with a Stow Municipal Court date.

Drug Possession Incident Near Olde 8

On May 2, officers responded to a report of an unresponsive male lying on the sidewalk near Northfield Road and Ledge Road.

During their investigation and pat-down, officers discovered “a bag of a clear crystalized substance and a glass pipe” on the individual. The items were taken for testing, and the male was transported home.

Two Domestic Violence Cases Reported

Northfield Village Police handled two domestic violence incidents in recent days.

On May 2 at approximately 11:22 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Sunset Motel on Northfield Road “for a report of a possible fight.” Upon arrival, officers determined a physical altercation had occurred between a male and female. According to the report, “The male left the scene but eventually returned.” After investigation, the male was identified as “the primary physical aggressor” and arrested for domestic violence based on the relationship status. He was booked, processed, and transported to Macedonia Jail pending arraignment.

In a second incident on May 4, officers responded to an address on Maple Avenue for “an argument between sisters, that resulted in a physical altercation.” Following investigation, one sister was identified as the primary aggressor and will face domestic violence charges.
