County Executive Shapiro Announces “Dog Days of Summer” Adoption Promotion

SUMMIT COUNTY, OHIO—The Dog Days of Summer are here and in Summit County, we are feeling the heat! But nothing cools down a hot summer day like the joyful energy of a four-legged friend. Whether you are splashing around the pool, strolling in the shade, or grabbing a sweet treat at your local ice cream shop, a loyal pup is the perfect partner to help you chill down. With a wagging tail and a playful spirit, they turn even the hottest days into heartwarming memories.

To help you find your cool companion, County Executive Shapiro is announcing the “Dog Days of Summer” adoption event beginning Tuesday, July 1 through Thursday, July 31.

During the adoption event, costs will be reduced to $28 for dogs (regularly $94). All dogs are microchipped, fully vetted (including bloodwork, flea treatments, intestinal de-worming, spay or neuter, and vaccinations) and ready to be taken home. Those who adopt a dog will also receive a 2025 Summit County Dog License included in the adoption cost.

Residents can call 330-643-2845 to schedule an appointment or visit the facility during business hours. To browse pictures of adoptable pets, visit Summit County Animal Control’s Facebook or 24 Pet Connect pages.
