Florida-based franchise brings handmade treats and whimsical atmosphere to Macedonia Commons
Sloan’s Ice Cream has opened its first Ohio location at Macedonia Commons, bringing the Florida-based franchise’s signature over-the-top atmosphere and handmade treats to Northeast Ohio. The ice cream shop, located next to Hobby Lobby and across from B&B Theaters, officially celebrates its grand opening July 18.
The store has been serving customers since late June, operating Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight. The grand opening will feature a ribbon cutting at 1 p.m., with free candy apples for all customers throughout the day.
Franchise partners Kerolos Gayed and Sherif Ghebrial plan to expand throughout the greater Cleveland area. “Cleveland is my home and Macedonia is only the beginning,” they said. “We built the Macedonia store to be a centerpiece for a brand that is so exciting and creates so many memories for our customers.”
The franchise is known for its Willy Wonka-esque atmosphere, small-batch premium ice cream, fresh cookies, brownies, and extensive selection of candies, chocolates and toys. The stores also host birthday parties, photo shoots, wedding showers and other private events.
Chamber President Kristine Bissler welcomed the new business. “Macedonia is extremely excited to welcome Sloan’s to the community. Their ice cream and other treats are second to none,” she said. “The opening of another national franchise in our city is a testament to the value of Macedonia.”
Founded in 1999 by chef Sloan Kamenstein, the company now operates 10 locations and offers nationwide shipping. The brand has been featured on “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” “The World According to Jeff Goldblum,” and was named a Top 10 Ice Cream Parlor in the USA by USA Today.
