Highland Rd. and Valley View Rd., Macedonia
The intersection of Highland Rd. and Valley View Rd. has various lane restrictions while crews widen the roadway. Work is expected to wrap up in December. Plan for slower traffic through this intersection during the coming weeks.
SR 82 Bridge Repairs, Sagamore Hills Township
Part of the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail under SR 82 is closed through early November. Bridge repairs are the reason for the closure. Walkers and cyclists should plan alternate routes until the work is complete.
SR 303 Culvert Replacement, Richfield Township
SR 303 just east of I-77 is closed through late October for a culvert replacement. The posted detour takes drivers I-271 south to I-77 south, then to SR 176/Broadview Rd. and back to SR 303.
I-480 Bridge Deck Replacement, Hudson and Twinsburg
Stow Rd. under I-480 remains closed through mid-November. The detour is Old Mill Rd. to Ravenna Rd. to Middleton Rd. On the highway above, I-480 eastbound and westbound over Stow Rd. has various lane restrictions. Crews expect to finish this project in late November.
Work Around Summit County
SR 91 Bridge Replacement, Munroe Falls
SR 91 is closed between River Rd. and Munroe Falls Ave. through early November. The detour is SR 261 to SR 8 to SR 59.
SR 261 Resurfacing, Norton and Akron
SR 261 has various lane restrictions for resurfacing and bridge repairs. Affected stretches run between the Medina County line and Romig Rd., and between I-77 and SR 59. This project should be done in late October.
I-77 Widening, Fairlawn and Bath Township
I-77 between Ghent Rd. and Everett Rd. has various lane closures for widening and resurfacing. Completion is expected in late fall.
I-77 Noise Wall Installation, Akron
I-77 northbound between Waterloo Rd. and Lovers Lane has occasional lane restrictions. Crews are installing noise walls, with completion expected in late fall.
Major Akron Projects
I-277/U.S. 224 Bridge Deck Replacement, Akron and Coventry Township
The ramp from I-77 northbound to I-277/U.S. 224 westbound is down to one lane through mid-November. I-277/U.S. 224 over I-77 is reduced to one lane in each direction for bridge repairs. That work is not expected to finish until June 2028.
SR 8 Bridge Replacement, Akron
E. North St. under SR 8 is closed through late October. Eastbound drivers should take Howard St. to Glenwood Ave. to Dan St. to North St. Westbound traffic will follow Dan St. to Glenwood Ave. to Howard St.
All three lanes of SR 8 in both directions have been shifted onto the new southbound bridge. Several ramps will stay closed through late fall 2028:
- Perkins St. to SR 8 north: Detour via Perkins St. to Goodkirk St. to Buchtel Ave. to Fountain St. to SR 8 northbound.
- SR 8 northbound to Glenwood Ave.: Detour via Tallmadge Ave. to Home Ave.
- SR 8 south to Buchtel Ave.: Detour via SR 8 south to Perkins St. to Goodkirk St.
The full SR 8 project is expected to be complete in fall 2028.
