County Executive and EMA Remind Residents to Register for Reverse Alerts, Download App

SUMMIT COUNTY, OHIO—In light of the boil water advisory issued for the City of Stow this past weekend, Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro and Summit Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director Thomas Smoot want to remind the public of two tools for receiving critical information on imminent health and safety threats. The first is Reverse Alert and the second is the Summit EMA app.

Reverse Alert is a component of the County of Summit Emergency Notification and Warning System that sends messages to email addresses and phones. All Summit County citizens with published telephone numbers will receive Reverse Alert emergency messages, however, residents who register their contact information, including their home address and cell phone number, will receive alerts, including those specific to their local municipality. To register, visit https://co.summitoh.net/pages/Reverse-Alert.html.

The Summit EMA app is available on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store, and provides emergency notifications and updates pertaining to weather, traffic, hazards, and emergencies. It also features updated COVID-19 information, county resources, and the ability to create emergency plans shareable with family and friends. To download the app, visit https://apps.myocv.com/share/a49644308.

On Monday, December 20 at 11:00 a.m., the City of Stow lifted the boil water advisory. For more details about the boil water advisory, visit https://stowohio.org/city-of-stow-boil-water-advisory-lifted/.
