August brings a full slate of programming for the Nordonia Hills Branch Library community, even as the branch itself prepares for a renovation project funded by a 20 year bond issue voters approved in May 2025.
Summer Finale Party
The library will host a “See You Later” Summer Finale Party from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1. The family event celebrates the end of Summer Reading with carnival games, face painting and karaoke.
GeekFest
Fans of comics, movies, manga, gaming and television shows can head to the Main Library for GeekFest from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8. The free, all ages event features panels, vendors and games, along with a cosplay contest and an art contest.
Writers’ Guild
Writers’ Guild welcomes new and experienced writers to explore fiction, nonfiction and more in a supportive group setting. The group meets from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19. During the branch closure, sessions will be held at the Richfield Branch Library instead of Nordonia Hills.
Mystery Lovers Book Discussion
Readers who enjoy double crossers, liars and murderers can join the Mystery Lovers Book Discussion from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26. This month’s pick is “Her Deadly Game” by Robert Dugoni. The group will meet in the Wesley Room of the United Methodist Church of Macedonia during the branch closure.
Branch Closure
The Nordonia Hills Branch Library will close at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, as renovation work gets underway. Officials said services and programs will continue, and patrons can still browse the collection despite the closure. A reopening date has not yet been announced.
