Macedonia Council Meeting: Residents Warned to Keep Doors Locked, Check Bags

Macedonia Police Chief Jon Golden had a warning for residents during his report at the June 9, Council meeting.

“Lock your vehicles at night,” Golden warned.

Residents should put vehicles in garages at night, to keep down potential vehicle break ins, Golden said.

“It you have to leave them [vehicles] out, don’t leave anything  of value visible in the vehicle,” Golden added.

If a potential thief finds a vehicle locked, he/she will move on to the next vehicle, the chief added.

Residents donating bags to the senior meal program should also beware, according to Mayor Nicholas Molnar.

Molnar asked that residents check their grocery bags before donating them in the lobby of City Hall.

Donated bags are used for the Senior Meal Program, he said.  Seniors who cannot finish their meals take the food home in the bags. The grocery bags are also used for senior meal deliveries.

“If you do have bags with a lot of holes in them or that have been sitting in the garage collecting dust, and water and whatever – please don’t bring us those,” he requested. “We’ve had some things in them that we don’t want in bags.”

According to Molnar the donated bags have been “a big help.”

“I want to thank everyone who brought in the grocery bags to the lobby,” Molnar said.

The bags are used for the Senior Meal Program, he said.  Seniors who cannot finish their meals take the food home in the bags. The grocery bags are also used for senior meal deliveries.
