Nordonia High School Drama Club Performs Agatha Christie’s “ A Murder is Announced”

Under Chris Simmons drama leadership direction, and Julia Dulaney, a Nordonia Drama alum, the Nordonia High School Drama Club performed Agatha Christie’s “A Murder is Announced” this past weekend. A Murder is Announced, by Agatha Christie, was this year’s fall production, which was adapted for the stage by Leslie Darbon.  This whodunit kept you guessing right up until the final reveal.

It was a wonderful weekend to spend with family/friends indoors while being entertained.  The group has been working hard for months and their hard work paid off as they transformed the stage into a crime scene and murder investigation, featuring eleven talented students on stage. Many other student members of the drama club contributed to the organization and development backstage as well.

A Murder Is Announced Synopsis: An announcement in the local paper states the time and place when a murder is to occur in Miss Blacklock’s (played by Aubrey Spinetti) Victorian house.  The victim is not one of the house’s several occupants, but an unexpected and unknown visitor.  What follows is a classic Christie puzzle of mixed motives, concealed identities and a determined inspector (played by the talented Ezekiel Rayle) grimly following the case’s twists and turns.

Nordonia High School Drama Club extends its gratitude, “Thank you all for your generosity and support of the show.  We will be donating $265 to the Emergency Assistance Center.  Thank you all for helping pay it forward to such a wonderful organization!”  They had a total of 425 people see the show over the weekend, which made it the highest attended fall production in Nordonia Drama history!

Some cast members shared their thoughts with Nordonia Hills News:

I enjoyed this show and was happy to be a part of it.  It was definitely a challenge, but it all paid off in the end, and the cast made the show ten times better as well! – Ezekiel Rayle

All aspects of the show were amazing to be involved with! The cast, the costumes, the set pieces, everything was so beautifully done to help it run as smoothly as it did. On top of stretching us as actors, this show connected all of us in ways we wouldn’t have imagined. Such a wonderful experience!! – Caeden Bolling

This show was by far one of the best theatre experiences I’ve ever had. From the cast being so well connected to the production environment being so professional but still fun, it’s been amazing. I am so grateful to have been a part of such a wonderful! – Ella Bozan
