Looking for a new way to end your Sunday? ABC has brought back the beloved game show Supermarket Sweep. Supermarket Sweep began in 1965 was hosted by Bill Malone from until 1967 and taken over by David Ruprecht from 1990-1995/2000-2003. The exuberant, lovely comedian Leslie Jones, a current SNL member, was crowned the third host of the historic game show. Never seen the grocery based phenomenon? Here’s what you are missing? Supermarket Sweep consists of 3 teams of 2 contestants(with adorable food names) and has them participate in grocery themed challenges and quizzes. Each segment adds time to their clock for the ”Big Sweep” through the supermarket. Whoever has the most time on their clock gets first dibs in putting high priced grocery items and bonus inflatables in their cart. Whichever team has the most expensive cart gets to move on to the bonus round, where they solve riddles for a chance to win up to $100,000. The 2020 revival added guessing a grocery brand by their dating profile to keep things current. Other than that, they kept the perfect formula that made this show loved by millions. If you saw the premiere last night, what did you think? If you haven’t seen it, you can catch it Sunday nights at 8/7c on ABC.
