Nordonia Hockey: The Knights Rivalry Game Ends in a Stalemate

By Carson Carrell

The Nordonia Knights Ice Hockey Team took on their rivals, Mayfield High School last weekend in a close game that ended in a stalemate.

The game started out with the Knights being up by three points before Mayfield could get their first goal. With this being a rivalry game it was obvious that both teams had come out ready to play and ready to win.

At the beginning of the second period the plays became more intense and the game became more gritty. The Knights ended up having to kill two consecutive penalties which only left them three guys on the ice while Mayfield had five. This lasted for five minutes and only resulted in one goal for Mayfield.

The rest of the game continued with back and forth scoring between the teams until time expired and the game was forced into overtime.

Both teams were unable to put a point up so the game ended in a tie with a score of five to five.

The team dog was given to the goaltender, Tommy Lippincott for is outstanding game keeping a lot of shots from going in the net which was a huge factor in keeping the game a tie.

The Knights still remain undefeated in their season record and are looking forward to a win when they play Mayfield next.

Over Christmas Break the Knights will be taking part in two tournaments in order to better themselves for their regular season.

The fight to the Baron Cup continues. Go Knights!
