Monthly Challenges
For Grades K-5 – Monthly challenges will be located in children’s area. Complete the challenge for a chance to win a small prize.
For March let’s do some St. Patrick’s Day graphing.

Friends of the Library Book Sale
The Friends of Nordonia Hills Branch Library will hold their Spring Book Sale Friday, March 8, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. AND Saturday, March 9, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A $4.00 bag sale begins at 2 p.m. Saturday.
The preview sale for Friends members is Friday, March 8, from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Memberships starting at $5.00 may be purchased at the door. You must be a member to attend.
The library is now accepting donations of gently used hardback and paperback books, video and audio recordings, puzzles, and board games. No magazines, Reader’s Digest Condensed Books, textbooks, or encyclopedias are accepted.

Monday Casual Reads
Join us the second Monday of each month for reader-to-reader book discussions, fun, and sharing with fellow light reading lovers. We will discuss At the Water’s Edge by Sara Gruen on Monday, March 11 at 2 p.m.

Family Night
Join our program for families of all ages! One Monday a month at 6:30 p.m., we’ll get together for some great crafts. On Monday, March 11, we are creating Pot of Gold mobiles.

Let’s Eat!
For students in grade 5 and up. One Tuesday a month at 3:30 p.m. we will get together and create something delicious. Tuesday, March 12 – We’re making lasagna in a mug.

Stitch Clique
Grab your crocheting/knitting needles and yarn and stitch the evening away. Join us the second Tuesday of each month for crocheting/knitting tips, friendship, advice and more. Refreshments will be served. Tuesday, March 12, 6-8 p.m.

Paws for Reading
Read a book to Edmund, a certified therapy dog. Bring a book or read one of ours! This is a great way for children to practice their literacy skills and gain more confidence in reading aloud. Children of all ages are welcome. Tuesday, March, 12 at 6:30 p.m.

After School Club
After School Club is one Wednesday per month, for children in Kindergarten through 4th grade. On March 13 at 4 p.m. we will make a rainbow with a pot of gold.

Socrates Café
Interested in candid, thought-provoking conversation? Join your fellow patrons at the Socrates Café, an informal adult discussion that takes place each month here at the library. The Cafe opens on Wednesday, March 13 at 6:30 p.m. 16 & over, please.

Coffee & Conversation Book Discussion
Join us for some great conversation with your fellow Nordonia Hills readers! Our next discussion is Thursday, March 14, 2 p.m. to discuss Carnegie’s Maid: a Novel by Marie Benedict.

Nordonia Hill Game Time
Join our regular gaming “meet-up” each month for patrons who enjoy board games, cards, chess, role-playing, war games, and collectible card games. The next meet-up will be on Saturday, March 16, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Join fellow local players – Sharpen your intellect – Enjoy the social aspects of games. Refreshments served. No registration necessary.

Messy Monday
Messy Monday is one Monday a month. On Monday, March 18 at 4 p.m., we will make foam art.

Author Talk: World War II Akron by Timothy Carroll
World War II Akron by Timothy Carroll tells the stories of the men from Summit County who served in World War II, including many of the soldiers killed in the war. There are over 100 photographs, including one of the best collection of blimp photos ever published. Blimps built by Goodyear hunted German and Japanese subs in the war, and the book is filled with great photos of Goodyear Navy blimps in action. Other topics to be covered will be the Dogs for Defense program, Congressional Medal of Honor winners, the Boy Scout draft, the fathers’ draft and a thorough history of Summit County during World War II. Tuesday, March 19, 6 p.m.

Writers’ Guild of Nordonia Hills
Writers wanted! New writers and old hands welcome: fiction, nonfiction, and everything in between. Have your work critiqued and give feedback to others in a fun and friendly environment. Please bring a sample of your work to share. Light snacks provided. Meets the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, March 20.

Teens Do Something
This is a great way for students in 5th through 12th grades to volunteer. We will meet one Saturday a month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to do a different type of project. Please contact us for more details. Saturday, March 23.

Dungeons and Dragons
We are gathering Monday, March 25 at 6 p.m. Join our quest at your own peril! For more information, please ask Mistress Sue.

Adult Coloring Night
Bring your own coloring book or choose from provided coloring pages and spend the evening relaxing and coloring with new friends. Tuesday, March 26, 6 p.m.

Stephen King’s Colorado
Join retired librarian Ed Rossman as he leads a scenic tour of beautiful Colorado, the backdrop for Stephen King’s books The Stand, The Shining, Misery and Dr. Sleep. Through colorful photographic slides and commentary, learn about King’s stories and thoughts on writing. Stephen King trivia and games add to the fun! Tuesday, April 2, 6:30 p.m.

Plant Talk Series: Planting for Pollinators
Not all insects are pests, especially when it comes to gardening. Mindy McCarty, a Summit County Master Gardener, will share tips and tricks for attracting pollinators and other beneficial insects to yards and gardens and living in harmony with them. Thursday, April 4, 6:30 p.m.

Nordonia Hills Trivia Night
Test your knowledge in our trivia night! Teams of up to six admitted. Smaller groups are welcome, and may be combined into larger teams. Refreshments will be served and prizes awarded for the winning teams! Registration is strongly suggested, as only ten teams of six will be admitted. Friday, April 5, 7-9 p.m.

Crafters’ Corner
Join your fellow craft enthusiasts for daylong fun. Bring your own supplies. All crafts welcome. Lots of table space to spread out. Refreshments served. Come for an hour or the entire day. Saturday, April 6, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Mystery Book Discussions
The Mystery Book Lovers discussion group is an informal group of adult mystery readers. Our next discussion will be The Secret Place by Tana French on Wednesday, April 24 at 7 p.m.
