Lady Knights Soccer Beats Painesville Riverside High School

Both the Junior Varsity and Varsity Lady Knights soccer teams beat Riverside High School Beavers, on their home turf. Saturday September 24, 2022 the Lady Knights ‘showed up’ to play, and playing as a team is something they do best!

JV team won 2-1 with goals scored by Freshman Charlotte Naymik and Junior Sarah Hinterlong; with Sarah scoring the game-winning goal.  Sophomore Goalkeeper Lexi DeMarco had three saves, with current stats at 3-2-4 for the JV Lady Knights’ soccer team.

Varsity also won their game 2-1, which takes their record to 6-5-0.  Sophomore Addison Francis scored both goals, with one from an assist given by Sophomore Noelle Dubnicka to her.  Sophomore Goalkeeper Brianna Garey recorded two saves.

According to Coach Les Gicei, “we have had a very good season considering how young our team is.  We have played five teams that are ranked in the top ten of their area, and one that is #5 in the state of Ohio. All of these teams are led by seniors.  We still have State Ranked #13 Glen Oak on our schedule along with Stow (Akron area #8), and Brecksville-Broadview Heights (#7 ranked) on our schedule. The level of competition that we compete against is very easy to see for those that understand the game of soccer.  Despite being physically overmatched in size and speed due to the disparity in age, this team has played hard each game. They have gained some valuable experience that will eventually pay dividends. We coaches are very proud of these girls. We play Stow-Munroe Falls on Wednesday, Sept. 28, and Glen Oak on Sat. Oct. 1, game times are 5/7pm and are on our home turf.”
