Nordonia Knights Host Solon in Conference Opener Tonight

Undefeated Nordonia seeks conference momentum against winless Comets

MACEDONIA – The undefeated Nordonia Knights return to Boliantz Stadium tonight to open Suburban League National Conference play against the struggling Solon Comets at 7 p.m.

The Knights (4-0, 1-0) enter averaging an explosive 40.8 points per game while allowing just 9.3 points per contest. Steven Fakult has emerged as one of the area’s most dynamic quarterbacks, averaging 235 total yards per game with 210 passing yards per contest. Connor Whapham anchors the ground attack with 47.7 rushing yards per game, while Dominick Jackson leads all receivers with 103 yards per game.

Solon (1-3, 0-1) presents a stark contrast, managing just 8.3 points per game while surrendering 33.0 points per contest. The Comets have struggled mightily on offense, generating only 212 total yards per game compared to Nordonia’s explosive 363.7 yards per contest. Most telling is Solon’s recent 35-31 loss to Hudson, a team Nordonia defeated 23-13 earlier this season.

Tonight’s matchup carries significant conference implications as both teams look to establish early positioning in the Suburban League National Conference standings. Nordonia dominated this matchup last season, rolling to a 38-6 victory over the Comets during their playoff run.

The statistical disparity tells the complete story of these programs’ early trajectories. Nordonia has outscored opponents 163-37 through four games, while Solon has been outscored 132-33 through four contests. The Knights’ offensive balance features both explosive passing (213 yards per game) and consistent rushing (150.7 yards per game), creating multiple ways to attack defenses.

Defensively, Nordonia has been dominant, with Collin Atha leading the unit with 4.3 tackles per game and Karsen Fisher contributing 0.5 sacks per contest. The Knights have allowed opposing offenses to score in double figures just once this season.

Nordonia coach Jeff Fox is looking forward to the homecoming atmosphere tonight.

“We are excited for another opportunity to represent the community,” Fox said. “This Friday night in Boliantz Stadium with the marching band, cheerleaders, all the homecoming festivities should be an awesome night for our community. I’m pleased at how our kids have prepared and focused on Solon.”

For the Knights, tonight represents an opportunity to build conference momentum while maintaining their perfect record. The combination of home field advantage, homecoming energy, and superior talent should provide significant advantages, but conference games often present unexpected challenges regardless of early season form.

Nordonia’s special teams remain perfect, with Riley Edgehouse averaging six points per game and maintaining his spotless record on extra points and field goals. The Knights’ depth and execution across all phases have created a program that opponents struggle to match.

The winner tonight gains early conference positioning heading into league play, while the loser faces the challenge of recovering from early setbacks in what promises to be a competitive Suburban League National Conference race.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Boliantz Stadium in Macedonia.
