Property Damage
Sept. 19 – A Hudson school bus backed into a mailbox on Valley View Road while turning around in a driveway. The bus driver left the scene after the resident attempted to flag her down. Hudson school officials confirmed they would contact the resident and pay for the damage.
Harassment
Sept. 14 – Officers took a report from a woman on Cheyenne Run who received threatening text messages from her ex-husband’s girlfriend. The messages, obtained through a mutual acquaintance, included remarks about wanting to “beat her ass.” The reporting party declined to pursue charges but wanted documentation for her attorney during ongoing custody hearings.
Domestic Dispute
Sept. 18 – Officers responded to a domestic dispute on Skyland Drive involving a couple going through divorce proceedings. Both parties accused the other of pushing them during an argument in the master bedroom. Neither party required medical attention. Due to conflicting statements and lack of witnesses, no charges were filed. One party voluntarily left the residence and was given a courtesy transport to a hotel.
OVI
Sept. 21 – A woman was arrested on Interstate 271 southbound after officers observed her traveling 86 mph in a 65 mph zone and failing to maintain her lane. During the traffic stop, she displayed signs of intoxication including glassy eyes and the odor of alcohol. She admitted to drinking four glasses of champagne at a bar in Akron’s Highland Square. When asked to exit the vehicle for sobriety tests, she declined to put on shoes, stating her preference to go without. She failed field sobriety tests and repeatedly acknowledged her intoxication during the stop. When asked if she could make it home safely, she told officers she was definitely intoxicated but felt she could get home. She also admitted she didn’t know what city she was in. A breath test revealed a blood alcohol content of 0.180, more than twice the legal limit. She was charged with OVI, OVI over .17%, speeding and marked lanes violations.
