Investigations span damaged traffic sign, alleged assault, and stolen delivery in Northfield Village
NORTHFIELD VILLAGE, Ohio – Northfield Village police responded to several notable incidents between Nov. 19 and Dec. 1, including a stop sign that appeared to have been shot, an alleged assault between neighbors, a reported domestic violence case, and a theft involving a delivery driver. This Northfield Village police blotter highlights those calls and ongoing investigations.
Stop Sign Damaged by Suspected Gunfire
On Nov. 21, Northfield Village police received a walk-in complaint at the station about a stop sign at the intersection of Beech Avenue and Electric Boulevard that appeared to have bullet holes in it.
Officers responded to the location and confirmed that there were multiple bullet holes in the sign. Photos of the damage were taken and a report was generated. The incident remains under investigation.
Neighbor Dispute Leads to Assault Allegation
On Nov. 23, around 5:49 a.m., officers were dispatched to a Ledge Road address for a report of a disorderly neighbor.
During the investigation, police learned that the caller allegedly assaulted his neighbor the night before. The alleged suspect admitted to smacking his neighbor but told officers it was in self-defense. The case will be forwarded to the prosecutor for review and a ruling on the assault charge. A report was taken.
Group Home Domestic Call Logged as Information Only
On Nov. 30 at about 3:34 p.m., officers were dispatched to a group home on Lowrie Boulevard for reports of a domestic-related incident. Dispatch advised that a 22-year-old male had allegedly swung at the caller.
When officers arrived, they investigated and spoke with those involved. The caretaker at the group home did not want to pursue charges and there were no reported injuries. Both parties agreed to separate for the night. The group home requested the incident be documented, and police completed an information-only report.
Juvenile Arrested in Domestic Violence Case
Later that same day, Nov. 30 at about 5:44 p.m., officers responded to a Chestnut Avenue address for a reported domestic violence incident.
When officers arrived, they separated a mother and daughter who had been involved in a dispute. After beginning their investigation, police arrested the juvenile daughter for domestic violence – threat of force. She was taken into custody, transported to the Northfield Village Police Department for booking, and then taken to the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center.
Resident Reports Package Theft Involving Delivery Driver
On Nov. 29 at about 3:38 p.m., officers on patrol were flagged down by a resident on Kennedy Boulevard.
The resident reported that a UPS flex driver had stolen their delivered package. Officers took a report. At this time, there is no identified suspect.
