SAGAMORE HILLS, Ohio – Recent Sagamore Hills police reports from early December outline a range of incidents, from a welfare check that led to the discovery of a deceased man to a pursuit of a fleeing driver and several property-related complaints.
Welfare Check Leads to Discovery of Deceased Resident
On the evening of Dec. 2, officers were called to a home on Glencrest Road in Sagamore Hills after a family member reported they had been unable to reach their father for about a week.
Police conducted a welfare check at the residence and confirmed the man was deceased inside the home. The case was documented as a personal welfare check and “DOA and body found.” Multiple officers responded, and the investigation included documenting several firearms and a vehicle at the property. Three firearms were listed as recovered and later returned to the man’s adult son.
No foul play was indicated in the report. The incident was logged as occurring shortly before 7:45 p.m. on Glencrest Road in a residential neighborhood.
Amazon Driver Reported After $20 Disappears From Porch Bin
On Dec. 4, a resident on Linden Hill Court in Sagamore Hills contacted police to report a petty theft involving an Amazon delivery driver.
The caller told dispatch that a neighbor had left $20 in a bin on their front porch and that the cash was gone after an Amazon driver came to the home. Officers responded around 10:16 p.m. and checked the area for the driver and vehicle described but were unable to locate them.
The case was documented as petty theft. The unknown Amazon driver was listed as the involved other individual. No arrests were made at the time of the report.
Vehicle Stuck in Yard on South Boyden Road
On Dec. 3, officers were dispatched to a residence on South Boyden Road in Sagamore Hills for a report that a vehicle was stuck in a yard.
Police responded between about 7:45 p.m. and 9:05 p.m. The incident was classified as property damage, with one resident listed as a person involved and another man from Akron also listed in the report. Specific damage details were not provided in the narrative, and there was no indication of injuries or charges in the information-only entry.
Driver From Euclid Arrested After Fleeing From Traffic Stop
On Dec. 6, an officer on Sagamore Road attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding when the driver refused to pull over, according to a report.
Police said the vehicle continued on Sagamore Road and ultimately crashed into a bush near the intersection of Valley View Road and Crystal Creek Road. The driver, identified in the report as a man from Euclid, was taken into custody and listed as an arrestee.
Officers documented several traffic and misdemeanor offenses, including fleeing or eluding an officer, reckless operation, speed, driving in marked lanes, and failure to reinstate. A blue iPhone was seized as property, and the vehicle involved, a Mazda passenger car with Ohio plates, was documented in the incident report. The victim was listed as “society.”
HOA Reports Unauthorized Dirt Dumped in Eaton Estates Field
On Dec. 8, a board member of the Eaton Estate homeowners’ association contacted Sagamore Hills Police to report an apparent dumping incident.
The caller reported that an unknown person had dumped a truckload of dirt in a field owned by the HOA in the 300 block of Seiberling Drive in Sagamore Hills. The incident occurred sometime between the evening of Dec. 6 and the morning of Dec. 8.
The case was recorded as damaged property at a field or lot. No suspect information was listed in the report, and the complainant was identified as a Sagamore Hills resident who serves on the HOA board.
