Job And Family Services Expands Partnerships With Barberton, Cuyahoga Falls Libraries

SUMMIT COUNTY, OHIO—In a continued effort to serve the community and provide easier access to essential resources, Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro’s Department of Job and Family Services (DJFS) is excited to announce the expansion of its library partnerships. This expansion now includes two additional libraries: the Barberton Public Library and Cuyahoga Falls Library. DJFS will have on-site case managers available at the Barberton Public Library on the 1st Tuesday of each month, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, and at the Cuyahoga Falls Library on the 1st Monday of each month, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

The existing collaborations between DJFS and the Akron-Summit County Public Library, Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library, and Twinsburg Public Library have already proven highly successful in providing vital services and support to individuals and families throughout Summit County. This expansion marks a significant step forward in improving access to job-seeking resources, educational materials, and family support programs.

“DJFS remains committed to helping County residents access the resources they need to thrive. By strengthening partnerships with local libraries, our team will reach a broader audience and provide a wider range of services,” said County Executive Shapiro.

This collaboration offers individuals and families an enhanced avenue for off-site meetings with case managers, where you can receive assistance with various services, including:

  • Applying for or renewing cash (OWF), food (SNAP), and medical assistance (Medicaid) benefits.
  • Case-related or eligibility questions.
  • Scanning essential documents and verifications.
  • Copies of vital records such as birth certificates, Social Security cards, pay stubs, and other legal documents.
  • Benefit issuance history.
  • Access to a wide range of resources and more.

Ann Hutchison, Director of the Barberton Public Library, expressed, “We are thrilled to deepen our partnership with DJFS and provide our community with even more support and resources. This expansion will make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.”

Danielle Welling, PR Marketing at the Cuyahoga Falls Library, added, “The expanded partnership between DJFS and local libraries is a tremendous step forward. We are excited to be part of this effort to bring vital resources to our community.”

In addition to these services, clients can also fax or scan documents and verifications free of charge during regular business hours at any of the following libraries in Summit County: Akron-Summit County Public Library (all 19 locations), Barberton Public Library, Cuyahoga Falls Library, Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library, and Twinsburg Public Library.

This partnership expansion aligns with DJFS’s mission under the leadership of Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro to empower individuals and strengthen families by providing the support and resources they need to succeed.
