Local Newspapers Are Not Dead

By Julie D’Aloiso

Local newspapers are not dead. At least not for this town. My team and I have been putting out the news online for over four years. We have a website, social media and an email newsletter. People like us and share our stuff. But no matter how well we did, some people would always say, that they like a newspaper to read while they drink their coffee.

Long story short, we now PRINT a very local newspaper twice a month (we are sorry, but at this time we cannot mail our newspapers).

So here are a few things that have happened because of that, some would say crazy, move.

  • two new writers/columnist Debbie Zietlow and Nicholette Marbley
  • we now have a recurring fictional story written by local author Kelly Gombert
  • local writers are sending us their books to review
  • more high school students are getting involved
  • more residents are sending us content

If you would like to read the recurring story, we have not posted it yet online.
The latest issue just hit the stands this week.
