PROPERTY DAMAGE
Attempted electrical work wire theft defused: The foreman of a Fairlane Drive construction site told police on November 21, that he believed someone attempted to steal electrical wire from the building. The foreman told police he arrived on the job site and noticed that someone had pried open the electrical fuse box on two of the electric scaffolding lifts and cut the power cords. The man said it appeared whoever damaged the property was attempting to take the cords, but may have been startled, because the cords were rolled up and left on the ground, according to the report. The foreman stated the incident occurred sometime between November 18, and November 21.
Police are investigating.

FRAUD
No security on deposit to the alleged landlord: A Macedonia man lost more than $1,000 after he believed he signed a possibly false lease for a Bruce Road property on November 16. The man told police on November 28, that he paid a man $50 to sign the lease as well as a $1,000 security deposit, through a cash app. The man was supposed to meet with the landlord on November 26, to pay the first month’s rent of $1,265. The man waited at the property, however, the alleged landlord did not show up. The man called the purported landlord, who told the man he was running late. The man waited, but the landlord did not show up. Subsequent telephone calls were made, but the number was no longer in service. Police attempted to contact the landlord three times. According to the report, police were hung up on once and two calls were not accepted. Police found the actual company which owns the property and contacted a representative. Police also contacted the individuals involved in the alleged scam. Police issued subpoenas for the cash app transactions, telephone calls and emails.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT
All terrain is a vehicle of brotherly dispute: A Brunswick man told police on December 2, that he had purchased a 2020 all terrain vehicle for $5,308 from a Medina dealership. The man asked his brother, who lives in Macedonia, to assist, according to the report. The brother was to use his truck and loading ramps to pick up the vehicle and take it to Brunswick. However, the brother is alleged to have taken the vehicle to his own home. The brother allegedly demanded $3,500 before relinquishing the vehicle. The brother also allegedly threatened to “beat his ass and shoot him if he came on his property,” according to the report. The man has declined to press charges against the brother. The man will try to take care of it with their mother’s intervention, according to the report.
